Candidate Forum Recording Guidance and Rules :

Forums give voters an opportunity to hear candidates discuss the issues of importance to them in this election.

- In order to ensure fairness to all candidates appearing in the forums and to preserve the integrity of the forums, LWVMN (LWV Minnesota) does not allow any editing of the forum recordings, and requires that forums be broadcast in their entirety. That said, due to unexpected violations of the rule, technical difficulties or other disturbances, broadcasts may be stopped and restarted as determined by the AV staff, moderator and/or Forum Chair.
- Recordings of this event, whether in person or by computer, may not be used without the express written approval of the League. The League will only allow audio/video of this event to be broadcast in its entirety, except by the media reporting on the event. The LWVMN and local Leagues post complete un-edited recordings of forums on our website. Editing is authorized only for official media reporting. Excerpts or edited clips of candidate forums may not be used for partisan or political purposes. We ask media representatives to sign in and have valid credentials. The League also asks media to be fair and feature all candidates, and if one question is reported on, statements from all candidates should be covered.
- The recordings of candidate forums in their entirety are the sole property of the League of Women Voters. The League does not authorize use of excerpts or edited clips of candidate forums for any partisan or political purposes.

If you'd like to propose a question for our moderators that you want asked to the candidates, submissions will be taken from August 17 - September 7. The link will be live, here. Written questions will also be accepted at each event. Indicate which Forum you would like your question directed to.

A Few Notes on Forums
- Cost: free and open to the public and press.
- How It Works: LWV Candidate Forums follow the nonpartisan, unbiased and impartial format established by the League of Women Voters Minnesota. A trained LWV member will moderate the forum. The League does not endorse political parties or candidates for public office.
Looking for Volunteers for the Forums
We need volunteers for every forum! Can you put up signs, answer questions, or hand out note cards for audience questions? And during the event, could you circulate the audience, picking up the question cards and bring them to the moderator? If you are a LWV member and can help out, please sign up using the Contact Us form, and specify which forum you'll be attending. And thank you, in advance!

A voter forum took place at Minnetonka City Hall Council Chambers. You can watch the SD 45/ HD 45B recording on YouTube. This was a joint effort between two LWV chapters: Minnetonka-Eden Prairie-Hopkins and Lake Minnetonka Plymouth Area.
Hennepin County Attorney Forum on 7/21/26
The Minneapolis chapter also hosted a forum; it was held on July 21, 2026. Its recording can be found on YouTube: the Hennepin County Commissioner District 2 Primary Candidate Forum . District 2 encompasses Minneapolis, Golden Valley, Medicine Lake, part of SE Plymouth and St. Anthony.
Hennepin County Attorney Forum on 6/25/26
The Lake Minnetonka Plymouth Area chapter hosted a Voter Forum on June 25, 2026 to learn more about the Hennepin County Attorney Candidates.
